Resident Evil 2 (PS1) | Why Resident Evil 2 is a Classic
The Playstation One is one of our favorite consoles of all time. It had a massive game library featuring iconic JRPGs like Final Fantasy 7 and Xenogears, it introduced us to the first 3D game in the Metal Gear franchise and the graphical improvement over previous consoles meant developers could create new stories and experiences that weren’t so great in the past. In 1996, Capcom released the first Resident Evil game to the masses and - aside from learning about the master of unlocking - it showcased the potential for a new kind of video game. Then, in 1998, they released it’s sequel, Resident Evil 2 and it reached mainstream appeal and many kids - like us at the time - fought against both zombies and the tank controls. This game was so universally praised that Capcom’s releasing a complete remake of it in 2019, so naturally we had to go back in time and re-experience this game or play it for the first time here on A Cast To The Past!
