You want souls? I'll give you souls!!!

I never wanted to make this kind of video but after seeing the unjustified User Score on Metacritic and Crowbcat releasing a "soul vs soulless" comparison for Resident Evil 4, I feel like it's my job to show everyone that ambience and atmosphere aren't what makes a game made with passion. This video is a comparison between Resident Evil 4 Original and Remake. I am focusing on the cutscenes, gameplay, character development, details and content from both versions.

I am not asking anyone to agree with me, but you should know that you can love the original game without having to discredit the remake. It's an insult to the developers who put a lot of work in this project. You think game design is easy? Try making the game yourself if you think so. All I am asking for is for you to understand where I am coming from. Agree or disagree, both are fine but at least be respectful and if you disagree, give some valid reasons why. Also, I have nothing against Crowbcat personally but his latest video is confusing to say the least. It had no balance and it felt like he was being biased about the original RE4. I mean, one of the parts of his video shows that useless rule 34 of Leon looking under Ashley's skirt. Is that really what makes a game soulful to you? That just makes me question your taste in video games.

I personally do not hate the original RE4. As I was researching for this video, I surprisingly did have fun replaying that game after finishing the remake like 10 times. The gameplay is still fantastic and the atmosphere is top notch. With that being said, I never liked the story in og RE4. It barely felt connected to the franchise, I never cared for Ashley and the game loses itself once you reach the island. Thankfully, for me, all of that was fixed in the remake.

If you expected the remake to be 1:1 recreation, you only have yourself to blame. Because Capcom said multiple times that they are reimagining the classic games and the original has already been remastered like 16 times. That's one of the reasons why people hated the idea of The Last of Us 1 being remade. That game didn't change anything story or level wise. It's the same game from 2013, just cleaner and more polished but that's it. The remastered version wasn't even inaccessible to anyone who owns a PS4 or PS5. Resident Evil 4 Remake does have cut content but most of it are things a lot of people (Or I at least) didn't care for. I am honestly surprised players were upset that the U3 boss fight from the original was cut because I never liked that boss. It was generic and it only served the purpose of padding the game. But hey, in one of the notes in RE4 remake confirms that U3 does exist in the RE-imagined timeline. It means that this boss will appear in the upcoming Separate Ways DLC which makes more sense.

Anways, thanks for watching!
