Resident Evil 5 - Exploration and Josh
22Time for another random montage. Thanks to Omgarrett who helped me out with most of the stuff shown in the video.
0:18 - You can see some of the Josh's melee moves here. The final move you see is actually the tag team combo, which is very hard to do with Josh since he primarily shoots enemies and ignores doing melee attacks. All his melees are the same as Chris, but still rather amusing to watch.
1:18 - Here I'm exploring a small part of a level (6-2 ) which is usually impossible to access since a cutscene will be triggered once you move forward. But there's a trick to avoid that. If you're playing as a client and the host loses connection (that is, he doesn't quit, but loses connection by other means... like unplugging his router like he does here), the cutscene won't be triggered as only the host can do so, so for about 30 seconds you can explore the level freely until the netcode timeouts.
You can see it's pretty obvious you're not supposed to move that far at all, the level design starts to look very very plain as they didn't bother to add detail for that area to be looked from specific angles.
2:06 - Exploring another area, this is the end of 2-1 and probably the most interesting area. I'm pretty sure they actually showed 1 or 2 seconds of the player fighting in this area in one of the trailers, they probably never intended it to be used outside of cutscenes though. A bit random how there's red barrels around you can explode for the heck of it.
2:49 - Another exploration and definitely the least interesting one. Before the cutscene the pathway is not blocked by a truck, but it doesn't matter since I realize here it's still blocked by merely an invisible wall.
3:34 - Something random for the heck of it, going through the caves in 2-1 without the lantern! Unfortunately, there's a lot audio desync here.
