Irving Boss Fight – Resident Evil 5
The Irving boss fight takes place in Chapter 3-3, near the end of the Oil Field Facility mission. After a long pursuit across the swamps and drilling site, Ricardo Irving, one of Tricell’s key operatives, finally shows his true monstrous form—infected by the Type 2 Plaga parasite.
Transformation:
Cornered after his schemes are exposed, Irving injects himself with a Plaga sample, mutating into a grotesque aquatic monster. His transformation is both horrifying and tragic—his human form becomes absorbed into a giant squid-like abomination with enormous tentacles, a spiny, crustacean-like body, and a giant mouth with gnashing teeth.
Irving himself is still visible in the creature’s center, partially fused, mocking Chris and Sheva even as he attacks.
Battle Overview:
The fight takes place on a cargo ship, giving limited space for movement.
Irving’s monster form moves around the ship, using tentacle attacks, ramming moves, and acid spit.
His weak spot is the exposed humanoid torso in the creature’s center and glowing orange sacs along its limbs.
The fight alternates between close-range combat on foot and using a mounted turret or rocket launcher when the creature distances itself.
Switch between sniping the core and shooting the limbs to weaken him.
Keep moving to avoid being grabbed or crushed by his massive tentacles.
Atmosphere and Tone:
This boss fight is classic Resident Evil: dark skies, fire-lit oil tankers, heavy machinery, and grotesque bioterror. It’s not just a fight—it’s a confrontation between Chris and a man who represents everything rotten about the bioweapons industry. Irving's transformation is a grotesque warning of the price of greed and corruption.
