the narrative starts four years after resistance 2's events. nathan hale had died from the chimeran virus due to joseph capelli's murder. Dr. fyodor malikov isolated the remedy from hale's blood and developed a vaccination against the chimeran virus after SRPA discovered Hale's corpse. after receiving a dishonorable discharge from the SRPA, capelli made the decision to give up on the chimera. at this point in the conflict, the chimera had basically taken over the planet and about 90% of people had died or been transformed.
