Restoring MP4 Support in 3ds Max: Introducing maxMP4 - Autodesk took it away - We'll bring it back!
π’ We're Restoring Sanity to 3ds Max Workflow: Introducing maxMP4! π’
In our latest tutorial video, we address a pivotal issue that has left 3ds Max users baffled. Autodesk removed file input and output support for standard MP4/MOV files, a format crucial to the video and movie industry. The absence of this industry-standard format has hindered productivity and quality.
At cebas Visual Technology Inc., we couldn't stand by and watch our fellow 3d Artists struggle. We've developed our own file Importer/Exporter plugin, maxMP4, which works seamlessly as a native file filter, restoring sanity to daily workflows for thousands of 3ds Max users.
Our maxMP4 plugin not only expedites the workflow by eliminating the need for tedious file sequence export and management for animations, but it also significantly reduces turnaround times and saves substantial hard disk space. For instance, an image file sequence for a few hundred UHD frames can consume between 500MB to 1TB, while the same sequence in HVEC MP4 format may occupy just 50-100MB. Sending and managing such smaller files is faster and more cost-effective across the board.
In this video, we shed light on the removal of the MP4 support feature and demonstrate how maxMP4 works. Our product is seamlessly integrated into 3ds Max in three key areas:
Input/Output file format support (H264 and H265).
Texture Map (MP4 files without audio can be used as texture maps).
Viewport Grab Export file format.
We revisit our previous scene, where we compared a 600-frame image file sequence for the background animation with a single, space-saving MP4 file.
We conclude the video by highlighting the advantages of maxMP4 and introducing its unbelievably low price of just $20 USD for a subscription. It's a small tool with a monumental impact, saving both time and effort, making it a worthwhile investment for any 3ds Max artist.
