We’ve finished the prequel, Fire Emblem Blazing Blade, now it’s time we moved on to the first to release Fire Emblem The Binding Blade. This was never officially released in English so we are using the localization patch from Serenes Forest. The game is also known by the title Fire Emblem Sword of Seals. This will be a blind playthrough. The Fire Emblem series has been great to me and this will be my fourth installment in the series. For those of you who are new I’m playing through all the Fire Emblem games completely blind. This series has become one of my favorite tactical RPGs, and I’m really looking forward to this blind playthrough of Fire Emblem The Binding Blade. This will also mark the second Fire Emblem game that I play ironman (mostly, I reserve the right to call BS on any shenanigans). This will be a blind ironman playthrough of Fire Emblem The Binding Blade.

Fire Emblem The Binding Blade is a tactical RPG developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. It’s the sixth installment in the Fire Emblem series. As with previous installments in the Fire Emblem series, Fire Emblem The Binding Blade gameplay revolves around positioning your characters on a gridlike battlefield and defeating an opposing enemy force. Just like all other Fire Emblem games, if characters are defeated in battle, they’re removed for the rest of the game. Playing without reloading is sometimes called an ironman playthrough and is how we will be playing. The story of Fire Emblem The Binding Blade takes place on the continent of Elibe, and follows the character Roy as he fights against King Zephiel. This game is the sequel to Fire Emblem Blazing Blade, though it was released before it.

Fire Emblem The Binding Blade was published in 2002 for the Gameboy Advance. Fire Emblem The Binding Blade had began development as Fire Emblem Maiden of Darkness for the Nintendo 64 however the project was almost completely scrapped losing most of its original content. This game was meant to be more forgiving to newcomers than the prior fifth installment Fire Emblem Thracia 776 which was notoriously difficult, and which yes we will get to eventually.

Fire Emblem The Binding Blade was released to positive sales and critical acclaim, and despite not being released internationally Super Smash Bros. Melee’s appearance of Roy helped contribute to the decision to release the next title Fire Emblem Blazing Blade and subsequent titles overseas.
