Now that I’ve finished the Tellius series of the Fire Emblem games, Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, it’s time we moved on to the first Fire Emblem that was officially released in English. So join me as I tackle Fire Emblem Blazing Sword blind. I’ve enjoyed the Fire Emblem series a lot so far, and this will only be my third game in the series. For those of you who are new I’m playing through all the Fire Emblem games completely blind. This series has become one of my favorite tactical RPGs, and I’m really looking forward to this blind playthrough of Fire Emblem Blazing Sword. This will also mark the first Fire Emblem game that I play fully ironman. This will be a blind ironman playthrough of Fire Emblem Blazing Sword.

Fire Emblem Blazing Sword is a tactical RPG developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. It’s the seventh installment in the Fire Emblem series but the first released in English. As with previous installments in the Fire Emblem series, Fire Emblem Blazing Sword gameplay revolves around positioning your characters on a gridlike battlefield and defeating an opposing enemy force. Just like all other Fire Emblem games, if characters are defeated in battle, they’re removed for the rest of the game. Playing without reloading is sometimes called an ironman playthrough and is how we will be playing. The story of Fire Emblem Blazing Sword takes place on the continent of Elibe, and follows the characters Lyndis, Eliwood, and Hector. This game is the prequel to Fire Emblem Binding Blade, and its success is what spurred the development of Fire Emblem Path of Radiance for the Gamecube.

Fire Emblem Blazing Sword was published in 2003 for the Gameboy Advance. Fire Emblem had been previously kept exclusive to Japan due to concerns over the difficulty, but the inclusion of the characters in Super Smash Bros. Melee and the success of Advance Wars prompted Nintendo to localize Blazing Sword. Blazing Sword began development after Fire Emblem The Binding Blade, though production was delayed as they added new features.

Upon release, Fire Emblem Blazing Sword was released to positive sales and international critical acclaim, firmly establishing the popularity of the series in countries outside of Japan.
