Believe it or not, there is a (probably unbeknowest) retro scene in the UK Prison Estate.
To own a games console in prison then you need to be what is classed as an 'enhanced' prisoner (based on the prison estates IEP system)
Once enhanced, you can either A.) order a console (must not have wireless capabilities) such as an original XBOX, Playstation, Playstation 2, Gamecube etc via a mail order catalogue which costs an arm and a leg OR B') buy one on the black market (Which wont be on your invetory so is likely to be swagged by the screws)
D Cat prisons are generally the best place (if you can call them that) to pickup games and consoles due to those that finish their sentence and leave the establishment. Here games can either be free or cost a can of tuna (Yep, no CEX credit here!)
Please note, I do not advise you go looking to get sent to prison. BUT if ever you find yourself in a D-Cat (C-Cat is harder) then stock up on those tins of Tuna and get bargain hunting!
Anyway, I decided it was time to shed a little light on this rarely (if ever) discussed topic. you know what, I might just do another as there is more stuff I didnt talk about with gaming in prison in the UK.
And I even have some pickups in this video from HMP Prisons which Im pretty sure nobody else can claim (so therefore I must be the first! lol)
