RIP or RIPScrip/RIPScript images are vector graphics that were used on some BBS software during the golden age of computing.


The format was created in 1992, and unfortunately never made it to any of the bulletin board systems that I had access to. But, I downloaded new artpacks to check out what people had released whenever I could find them.


RIP images were, and still are a bit of a pain to view. Some artists used them to do simple animations, and if they're loaded too quickly frames will be missed. Simulating the delay of a modem lets you see them as they're loaded, which is a pretty cool effect.
