In the video I show how to configure your Picade using RetroPie.

I am using RetroPie 3.2.1.
In the video I show how to remove the hotkey functions such as save, load game and reset etc.. and instead just have a dedicated quit emulator button. (I use the Escape button on the side - rettroarch.cfg edited with input_exit_emulator = escape).

If you want to keep the hotkey defaults, dont make the amends I do.
