The Sega Megadrive (or Sega Genesis in North America) launched in 1988 in Japan as the successor to the Sega Master System, and then launched in 1989 in the USA and 1990 in Europe. It is fair to say it was a big hit for Sega, but mostly in America and Europe, whereas in Japan it was outsold by both the PC Engine and the Super Famicom (SNES). Worldwide it sold around 42 million units, which is an impressive number even in today's era of gaming.
The games were mostly released in a hard case which meant that the boxes lasted longer, but they are still prone to cracking and splintering, so making sure that these gaming relics are protected should always be a priority. Some of the third party games will not fit in these shells, so please check the dimensions before ordering!
At RetroShell we want to provide the best products for video game preservation. Our products are precision made of the finest 4mm acrylic and will offer your precious retro games the best protection from damage. They are designed to stack vertically and can also be aligned horizontally allowing you to showcase your collection in all its glory, whilst keeping them safe from knocks and bumps.
Our bespoke cases ensure a snug fit with a custom trapdoor to easily access the boxes so you can continue to play these timeless classics.
Please note, these do not offer protection from UV and we always recommend keeping them out of bright light which can fade the boxes and designs.
