0Returnal is a visually immersive, and engaging game that is part action, suspense and mystery. Although the game is a "slow burn" (the story line and game play building gradually) in my opinion, it does not disappoint so far. Returnal is not your typical shooter-based game where you simply shoot your way through each level. Rather Returnal is a mystery and suspense, sci-fi, strategy, action game with its storyline based on the character "Selene" stuck in a time loop after crash landing on Astropos. Think of it as a mash up of the movies Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise and Prometheus or Alien Covenant by Ridley Scott (Alien). Each time you die, you respawn or are resurrected to repeat the level. But each time you play, the environment and available weapons, consumables and artifacts are entirely different. After a few resurrections, you soon begin to realize the concept of the game and storyline. This makes the game feel fresh after each play and allows you to develop your gaming strategy and skills. As you improve your game play skills and make better choices in what you spend your resources on, weapons you chose, battles you engage in, the game rewards you with more pieces of the storyline being revealed along with more alien environments to explore, weapons, consumables, and artifacts to leverage.
