According to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL), Ukrainian forces are employing captured Russian artillery on the battlefield in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine.

Several items of equipment were reportedly taken as Russian forces left the Kharkiv region during a Ukrainian counteroffensive, according to RFE/RL.

On October 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainian troops had retaken dozens of communities in the Kherson, Kharkiv, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions of the country.

According to RFE/RL, some of the confiscated machinery is treated by the Ukrainian military as "trophies" because the nation is unable to produce it.

On Wednesday, October 5, the source released video of a captured self-propelled artillery in use. In the footage, a Ukrainian soldier is heard saying, "Let them experience the might of their own weapon."
