Foreword by Rev. Charles H. Nicks Jr:

"Once again we humbly lift our voices to the Lord. We sing not because we feel we can, but because we have to. There is such a song deep in our souls, there is such an urgency to spread the message of good news, we just can't hold our peace.

We realize that with all the great recording artists, all the real giants of the gospel music world, that we probably should just be content with listening to the others but then you keep getting the feeling that nobody has quite said it for you. So here we are again, singing, shouting, dancing, crying, trying to record, tripping over wires, trying to keep the earphones on, excited and wondering if the record will say and give the feeling we want it to.

Our Minister of Music, Jimmy Dowell, works us up, telling us of his trials and tribulations and how God gave him the words and music to "I Need Him." Then a member of the choir testifies to how God put food on her table and we break into "There Is No Failure In God." Well, that just brought on a praise..."I Love To Praise Him" and the Holy Ghost came in and took us deeply into the praise. Upon our return from our spiritual cloud we decided to we'd better tell saints everywhere to "Work On, Pray On", for time isn't long. We had to include Edwin Hawkins' "Wonderful", it so inspired us, the entire choir just wanted a chance to shout "Wonderful!"

Had to stop here...songs so long we couldn't get anymore on this record, so watch for Volume II shortly. Special thanks to all who worked so diligently to produce this recording: especially the chor, each member for their dedication, devotion and sacrifice. To each soloist, the unmatchable Ortheia Barnes-Brown, whose voice is a symphony in itself. To Geralyne Motton, who loves to praise him, all the time her beautiful spirit blends with her voice to get you on your feet for the Lord. To Thelma Webb for the finishing touches on "Wonderful" as only Thelma could do. She has been a soloist with the St. James Choir since a little girl, singing such songs as "Tell It Like It Is", "He's Alright". To one of the most gifted and promising drummers and percussionist in the country, Mr. Ted Thomas Jr., whose ability with the sticks is already making him a sought after musician. To Willie "Butch" Cannon our pianist whose artistry on the keyboard is super! To a fine bass player who helped us tremendously, Terry Tuck. To Leroy Emmanuel for a fine job on the congas. To our own organist, Sidney Holmes for his help on the electric piano. To a marvelous engineer, Mr. Mark Calice, whose electrical genius and marvelous personality really brought things together on this album for us. All of this under the auspices of one of the finest Minsters of Music anywhere in the world, Mr. Jimmy Dowell."

"AND TO GOD BE THE GLORY, THE HONOR AND THE PRAISE."

"Very special thanks to everyone of you who will take the time to listen, may God's blessings rest upon you and we hope these songs of praise will inspire and strengthen you."
- YOURS IN CHRIST, REV. CHARLES NICKS, JR.

P.S. Thanks to Armen Boladian and Bernie Mendelson for letting me have my way.
