Vicar Amelia is boss located in the Cathedral Ward and she can be rough early on. As far as bosses go, her attacks are fairly generic all told except for her shock-wave and heal.

You definitely want to upgrade whatever weapon you're using to at least +3, and ideally use a fire paper if available. If you do it early you'll have a limited supply, I'm guessing it becomes more readily available later on.

The other important aspect is remember to put the numbing mist on your hotbar, credit to OGS for that advice. Amelia has enough health as is, and you can't afford to let her heal. I'd throw one at around 50% for best results, and then one last mist if she starts to heal again to finish her off.

Finishing off Vicar Amelia grants you the password to the door we encountered earlier, so that opens more paths down the road.
