- Reversi Longplay (HTML5 Game) -

Reversi is a strategy board game for two players, played on an 8x8 uncheckered board. It's also widely known by the trademarked name Othello. The game uses pieces that are light on one side and dark on the other. The objective of Reversi is to have the majority of disks turned to display your color when the last playable empty square is filled.

The game begins with four disks placed in the middle of the board in a square pattern: two disks with the light side up and two with the dark side up, diagonal from one another. Players alternate turns, placing a disk on the board with their assigned color facing up. During a play, any disks of the opponent's color that are in a straight line and bounded by the disk just placed and another disk of the current player's color are turned over to match the current player's color.

The strategy of Reversi comes from its requirement to flip over many disks through careful placement of your own disks, ideally gaining a majority on the board and limiting the opponent's mobility. The game evolves substantially from the opening moves to the midgame and endgame. Early gameplay tends to focus on positioning and control of the board's center and edges, while the endgame often involves careful calculation to outmaneuver the opponent in the final few moves.

Reversi is noted for its simple rules but complex strategies. Although the game has a fixed set of rules, the vast array of possible moves and the ability to change the course of the game dramatically with a single well-thought-out move makes it a challenging and engaging game. The game is popular among all ages and can be played casually or competitively. Its accessibility has led to its adaptation into various computer versions, and it remains a popular choice for strategy game enthusiasts around the world.
