Join this Camden Talks Climate event, hosted by CamdenCAN (Climate Action Now) in partnership with the Camden Public Library on Thursday, December 12, at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place in person in the Picker Room as well as on Zoom.

Join us for an engaging talk by Camden residents David Kibbe and Joline Blais about rewilding your yard and transforming traditional landscapes into thriving ecosystems right here in Camden, Maine. Discover how small changes in your yard—like planting native species, reducing lawn size, and creating habitats—can support local wildlife, combat climate change, and boost soil health. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or new to the concept, this talk will inspire you with practical tips and the ecological benefits of rewilding. Let’s bring more birds, bees, and beauty back to our community, one yard at a time!

CamdenCAN (ClimateActionNow) is a citizen-led organization committed to reducing Camden’s contribution to climate change through local action, education, advocacy, and resources. We help our community take advantage of climate solutions with actionable steps.

David C Kibbe, MD is a retired family physician and serial health IT entrepreneur who moved to Maine in 2017 and now devotes full time to his micro-farm and native plant habitat off of Chestnut Street in Camden, which he manages along with help from his dog, Coby, 4 chickens, and bees. He has three children and three grandchildren who delight in coming to Maine every year.

Joline Blais researches regenerative design, teaches permaculture and advises the Terrell House Permaculture Center at UMaine. She is a steering committee member of CamdenCAN, and board member of PAN (Permaculture Association of the Northeast). Past projects include co-directing LongGreenHouse, an educational partnership with Wabanaki neighbors, emphasizing indigenous knowledge and collaboration, and working as a co-founding member of Belfast Ecovillage. Additionally, Joline serves as President of the Wild Blueberry Heritage Center. She rows, skis, hikes, swims, and kayaks mostly in her home state of Maine. Joline lives in Camden.
