Trivia :
- Located near Bologna in Italy, it was built in 1950.
- Since 1980 it has hosted 30 Grand Prix, mostly under the name of 'San Marino Grand Prix' and is currently still in the F1 calendar.
- In 1988 Senna won his first race for McLaren, from pole position, finishing just 2 seconds ahead of Prost.
- Senna took 8 poles at Imola and won 3 times (1988, 1989 and 1991).
- It was at this track that Senna tragically died after crashing from the lead on lap 5, in 1994.
- Earlier, in 1989, Gerhard Berger had a massive crash at the exact same curve, but was more lucky, as he escaped with just a few burns to his hands.
- In 1995 the Tamburello curve was modified, as well as Villeneuve, Acque Minerale and Variante Bassa.
- Michael Schumacher has won this race 7 times (1994, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006) !
