Welcome Ricky He We’re joined on the Starline by an actor, who you’ve seen in “A Million Little Things”, “The Good Doctor”, and now in the award winning horror TV series “From” we welcome Ricky He.
Ricky, let’s go Beyond the Mic. What was the main reason this script called to you?
When you first started you were told “any character has the potential of dying”. How does that fire you up as an actor, to give it your all with each take?
How many times, when you get the weekly script, have you been tempted to just go to the back couple of pages and see if you’re still there at the end?
If there was one question about the show you would want answered, so the fans would stop asking you, what is the question, not the answer, but the question itself?
The Rockin' 8: It’s time for the Rockin’ 8, 8 random questions, answer with the first thing that comes to your mind. There is no Pressure.
1. What song on your playlist gets played the most?
2. Do you tend to follow your heart or your head?
3. Best Muhammad Ali fight ever was against who?
4. What was your best and worst class in school?
5. You said once “I’m still being recognized at dimsum restaurants for being my dad’s son who does blinds and curtains.” What’s your typical dimsum order?
6. Would you rather have endless love or endless money?
7. When you fought Muay Thai last, did you win?
8. Which Rush Hour movie is the best?
The Back Half: Where did your love of acting come from and how has it evolved?
What’s the best thing about your Mom?
What is the dominant trait you get from your Dad?
How has your son and family changed the way you see portraying Kenny in “From”?
Who is the person you depend on that isn’t family now?
How has your relationship with Harold Perrineau grown from season 1 to today?
Do you think when “From” ends you will arrange a buddy movie with Corteon Moore & Harold?
So who’s the practical joker on the set, and who has gotten you lately?
Why has the monsters in “From” changed you and the way you sleep at night?
You studied psychology at university, what’s the one thing you are still trying to figure out in your own life?
Staying Grounded: How do you keep yourself grounded when you’ve been successful doing so many incredible roles?
What interests you now?
How does “the process” and growth you’ve accomplished help you as an actor?
So, what do you consider success now and how has your thoughts on success changed?
You talked about maxing stats, which video game do you play?
Who would you love to do a show / movie with?
How has this cast gone from just a group of actors and actresses to a family that will come together to defend each other if the zombie apocalypse actually happen?
The Impossible Question: What’s one story of you growing up that would help people know you and understand you better?
Two Big Questions: What’s the one real life rejection-friend zoning-heartbreak did you draw on for all the pain Kenny seems to experience each week? Have you ever walked into the writers room and said “enough can’t we give this kid a break for once?”
Have you did you ever do “hey girl, I’m on a TV show now… did you ever rub salt into that wound”?
Sneaking in one More: “Clock is ticking for us” What is the most important thing for you to show your kids while your still here?
The Wrap: He’s a Southpaw, loves the Beatles and the Rush Hour series. See him as Kenny in “From” on MGM+, Ricky He thanks for taking the time to talk with us today.
And that my friends is Beyond the Mic.
