I don't have my GPU installed right now which is why I had to record off-screen; having to hold the phone as a camera on one hand had me play with the keyboard with the other one which is sorta tough lol (I'm the player at the right)
I had got this working but only now is that I had someone else to test a proper race with me (though he hadn't ever played Ridge Racer before, which is why he struggles with driving).
This is using a special build of MAME that was recently released and allows for linking up Ridge Racer 2 and Rave Racer for two players (more than two still seems to be not entirely working), so I wanted to test this for a good while. Also, the game was running with lag without frameskip...but using frameskip 6/10 on both instances seemed to work well and even stay synced; cars might look choppy but that could be a side effect of BOTH instances having frameskip. In any case, the fact that it does work even with that and game doesn't break is very nice!
