Rigging & Animating Link (Legend of Zelda) for Unity Engine
This is a little experimental project I did a year or two ago and never quite finished, but I came across a bunch of screen capture video clips and decided to share this so it wouldn't go to waste!
I purchased the character itself online, but totally deleted the skeleton and re-rigged him with a Mixamo-compatible skeleton to take advantage of some of their free animations. I did that part and the skin-weighting and other prep work in Maya. From there, I brought him into Cascadeur and gave him a full rig and physics setup. I made many animations from scratch and also used some from Mixamo and retargeting. Finally, I brought everything into Unity engine and set him up with my own custom IK systems and animation tools (a lot of which is based on the "Animation Rigging" package and custom constraints).
Although it wasn't really a finished project and has a few glitchy and unpolished bits, it was a really cool and fun project to pay homage to one of my favorite video games! I retained the Unity project and still have all the files and the repository, so if people are interested in this project I could potentially revisit it and finish things!
