Rime Revenge! Part #23: Solid Cooling Block (ONI: Spaced Out!)
2In this VOD of my re-attempt at a Rime run, we fix the Ethanol pipe, so now the freezer loop will run continuously at -20° C, while an Ethanol Distillery output will still get cooled and fed to the Nosh Sprouts on the same line. The piping would be much less complicated were I not snaking it around all the other base piping. We also set up a cooling setup for solids in general, running Conveyor Rails through a tank full of cooled Crude Oil. While conductive solids like the Copper Volcano output can be cooled effectively by rails running through gases, less conductive solids like Dirt and Sulfur from the Sulfur Geyser will not cool down quickly enough. Submerging the Conveyor rails in a conductive liquid like Crude Oil allows for effective cooling of the solid debris both due to the extra Thermal Conductivity of the liquid, and a phase-based bonus to the Thermal Conductivity in general. This means we can just condense the Sulfur into solid debris chunks at the source, and then cool the solid chunks along with our Volcano Metals. A similar method will eventually be used to cool all of the Igneous Rock from the Magma Volcanoes across the map, but on a much larger scale. There will be a short break while we finish Dyson Sphere Program next week, but when we resume ONI in September, we will get the Stinko Swamp asteroid fully set up so we can properly harvest the Gold and Iron resources there, as well as sending back even more Water. The overall aim of the run is to get further into the late-game on a Classic-style run than ever before, without any major gimmicks. We've now completed all of the Story Traits currently available in the game! So that's a big objective of the run already completed. I also want to make sure we use all 15 Magma Volcanoes on the map at some point this time! Youtube decided we should play on a map with Volcanoes, so here we are.
