After many Alpha and Beta versions, Rimworld 1.0 is finally here! We continue our Ice Sheet Tribal Challenge with a look at the latest changes in version 1.0 out on the Ice Sheet on Randy Random Extreme difficulty.► Full Playlist: https://goo.gl/q3Cx7t

We return to the Ice Sheet in Rimworld Version 1.0 in this episode of our Rimworld Ice Sheet Tribal Challenge. After Beta 19, the update to Rimworld 1.0 only changes a few things and so our Ice Sheet Challenge can continue as usual. Most importantly, we are now able to set food restrictions, allowing Cambiar and Cobra to micro-manage their meals a bit more. Apart from that, Rimworld Version 1.0 remains very similar to what we played in the previous few episodes of this series and so life out on the ice sheet resumes without any hiccups.

It does not take long until winter arrives and with that, temperatures out on the ice sheet are dropping significantly. In Rimworld 1.0, winter also equals almost complete darkness and this results in a bit of a problem for our small colony: Our mountain base on the ice sheet is currently being powered by a lot of solar panels that now no longer produce electricity. Power becomes scarce and we have to switch off a few devices, including a small number of hydroponics basins.

Still, there are some positives: A promising crash-landed survivor named Hornet prompts us to start a rescue mission and we actually manage to save her from the cold and her life-threatening injuries. Hornet even makes a full-recovery in our makeshift infirmary – will she join the colony for good?

The Ice Sheet is one of Rimworld’s harshest and most dangerous biomes. It is not quite as inhospitable as the Sea Ice biome, but it’s a close second. The freezing temperatures make plant growth impossible and animals like Snow Hares and Polar Bears only rarely find their way onto the Ice Sheet. Visitors also do not pass by frequently: Both Raiders and Traders tend to avoid the Ice Sheet, leaving us with little contact to the outside world.

The modified Rimworld Tribal start offers an additional challenge: We start with only a fraction of the available research projects unlocked and research speed will see a hefty penalty. Our single tribal colonist will therefore start the game without electricity and – new in Rimworld Version 1.0 – also without a bed. Tribal colonists can also only access a very limited set of childhood and adulthood backgrounds, giving them further disadvantages compared to more developed factions.

The goal of this Rimworld Ice Sheet Tribal Challenge is to start with nothing on the Ice Sheet with a single tribal colonist and survive to reach the end of the game. While Rimworld 1.0 does not have quests or achievements, it does have an end – provided you survive long enough to see it. Survival is key in this tribal ice sheet challenge: Food will be scarce, temperatures will be freezing and our tribal colonist will be all on his own to face the dangers that Randy Random throws his way.

I am by no means an expert on Rimworld strategy and tactics, but I have successfully survived this ice sheet scenario off-camera for multiple years and I have picked up a few neat strategies along the way. This Rimworld Tribal Ice Sheet Challenge tries to mix challenging gameplay with a few strategy tips and tricks on how to survive on the Ice Sheet with a single tribal colonist. Strategy and planning are key for survival in Rimworld Version 1.0, especially on the Ice Sheet. Every move needs to be carefully thought through, otherwise it might end up in disaster. While this series is not a complete Rimworld Strategy Guide, it will heavily feature elements of a Rimworld Ice Sheet Guide. We will discuss strategies for choosing a starting location and occasionally switch to more of a Rimworld Guide. You will find info cards throughout the entire video, serving as overview strategy guides for different aspects of the game.

Rimworld is a Sci-Fi colony builder simulation game focused on managing a small group of survivors. Rimworld is developed and published by Ludeon Studios. The game was released as an early access alpha version in 2014 and saw a release on Steam in 2016. In October 2018, Rimworld Version 1.0 was released and the game officially left early access. The game has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics and players alike.

All Rimworld 1.0 gameplay for this Rimworld Ice Sheet Tribal Challenge was recorded on the PC in 1080p Full HD.
