2020 has taken many great people and legends even before the crises of Covid 19, but now it's latest victim is legendary Star Wars actor, Dave Prowse, the original performer of Darth Vader who portrayed him from 1977 to 1983, has tragically passed away at the age of 85, following a short illness. His agent Thomas Bowington told the BBC, adding that his death is "a truly and deeply heart-wrenching loss for us and millions of fans all over the world."

What some fans may not know is why Darth Vader was so intimidating is because of David Prowse for he was a big tall guy and Vader was presented as this huge villain in Star Wars and he was the perfect person to fill the boots of the greatest villain ever of my childhood. No one could give the Sith Lord a physicality that would make him an icon like the way he did. What a legacy for him to leave behind. For us fans of Darth Vader, James Earl Jones was the voice of him that gave the icon dark and cold voice of the Sith Lord, Hayden Christensen was a younger and very powerful Darth Vader, Sebastian Shaw was an older but redeemed Darth Vader... but David Prowse....he WAS Darth Vader, and always will be in my eyes. Whenever I see Vader or even think of him or read in the comic canon books or even fan fics let alone play with my figures of Vader or play as him in video games, David Prowse always came mind. Together, he and James Earl Jones had manifested I think the most iconic character in cinema history.

As for the character of Darth Vader himself I think he'd be so heartbroken to know his original portray is no longer with him despite being portrayed by Hayden Christensen at the end in Episode III, Spencer Wilding/Daniel Naprous in Rogue One that marked his return to the big screen and Bob Anderson as his stunt actor in Episodes V and VI. But he still lives on no matter who plays him in the iconic mask, dark suite and cape and holding his red lightsaber but non of them have left an everlasting impact on the Star Wars fandom like the way Prowse did when when he made that iconic entrance in Episode 4 when we all saw Darth Vader for the very first time on the big screen that has left a big image in our memories.

Rest in Peace David Prowse, it was an honor knowing you and we'll remember forever...the Force will be with you, Always...
