The hardware is a little on the old side now but it was top-of-the-line when it was originally put together in July of 2015 with 2x EVGA 980 Ti Classified cards. I upgraded to 2x Nvidia Titan Xp cards later. I do other things besides gaming; so, yes, the RAM is needed:
- Intel i7 5960X Haswell-E @ all-core 4.6GHz with 1.26V
- ASRock X99 OC Formula/3.1
- G.Skill TridentZ 8x8GB = 64GB first/second generation DDR4 3200MHz @ 3000MHz with 14-14-14-31 2N timings
- 2x Nvidia Titan Xp (in SLI) @ +130 MHz core and @ 6 GHz (12 GHz effective) GDDR5X memory
- Loading off of a Samsung 950 Pro 512GB NVMe SSD
- dual custom loop system with 480mm radiator for CPU loop; 560mm + 280mm radiators for GPU loop
