Risk of Rain: An Overshadowed Masterpiece
15410 years later, and still one of the best action roguelikes/roguelites ever made. It has a great variety of enemies, characters and items that make for a lot of interesting runs on top of it's unique difficulty scaling system. The modding also makes the game even more replayable than it already is, but should only be explored when you've gotten the gist of the vanilla experience or have completed a run. Also, the soundtrack's still a banger, and the story and setting is quite interesting if you read more into it.
Even in spite of the success of the sequel that seems to be a fully realized version of the first game. Risk of Rain still has that pixel art charm that was ever present in the early indie game era of old school platformers or action games in the early 2010s. With the remaster presumably coming out still, it'll breathe new life into the game while bringing other improvements from the second game.
