Risk of Rain Returns - "Danger Orbits" medal guide (Localized Sun)
34Welcome to a video guide / tutorial / walkthrough for obtaining a gold medal / crown in the Risk of Rain Returns Artificer Providence Trial called "Danger Orbits." Completing this trial awards you with the alternate special skill for Artificer, Localized Sun. "Danger Orbits" is not a timed trial and instead simply counts how many enemies you are able to take out before you die. The catch here is that you are trapped inside of a box in the middle of the map and you are ONLY able to use your Localized Sun ability. If you take out 50 or more enemies you will receive the ability unlock and if you take out 200 or more you will receive the gold medal / crown.
While the concept for this trial sounds like a pretty fun mini-game, it actually ended up being a nightmare for me due to the amount of RNG involved. I spent HOURS trying to get the gold medal in the trial, and I honestly didn't feel like I was any better at it when I finally managed to get it than I was when I first started out. Not to mention these runs take forever to go through. For that reason, it was one of the longest trials for me to complete, but I can't really consider it one of the "hardest" and it just required putting in a lot of time.
Be sure to try to prioritize the enemies that spawn above or below you, as these will be closer to you than the ones coming from the sides. Hopefully you don't get unlucky and get the "bug" that happens every and now and then where a wandering vagrant doesn't spawn around the 80ish kills mark. You NEED this boss to spawn so that you can get the equipment item drop (nematocyst nozzle).
