This is a play-through using Sakura Kasugano and unmasked Akira Kazama in the Arcade version of Rival Schools. Read on below for more information...

Sakura and unmasked Akira are both hidden characters in the game. They are time release characters or they can be unlocked immediately for selection.

I have alternated between the two characters for each round.

===== About Sakura =====
As the staple schoolgirl fighter of Capcom, it made perfect sense for her to appear in Rival Schools. She has all of her trademark Street Fighter moves, along with a new diagonally upwards fireball. Obviously her gameplay is changed to fit the Rival Schools system.

She did not appear in the sequel Project Justice, but on the Dreamcast Japanese version of that game, it was possible to get/gain some of her special/super moves by playing the create-a-character board game.

===== About unmasked Akira =====
She is basically regular Akira without her motorcycle jacket and helmet. Gameplay-wise, the only difference between the two is that unmasked Akira's Gate Elbow knocks the opponent up into the air instead of away.

===== About Rival Schools =====
In my opinion, this is one of the best fighting game franchises by Capcom. If you ever wondered what a fighting game with school teachers, students and gangs would be like, Rival Schools is your perfect answer. With great character designs and artwork, Classic Capcom have nailed it.

The Arcade game's graphics are slightly better than the PS1 versions of the game as the 3D models are a little bit more "smoother" in areas, but you probably won't notice this unless you go looking for it (like I did).

However, the Arcade version does have some minor "inferior" aspects to the PS1 version... an example of this is when at the end of each round when you can choose to switch characters, the character icons are just resized versions of the lifebar icons, which makes them look distorted.

Other minor differences between the versions include some versus screen portrait images, such as Kyoko's, Natsu's, Akira's, etc.
