Riven (2024) - 03 (end) - What That Filthy Colonizer Deserves
Yeah, okay, I looked a few things up here, but I also kinda learned about some of this stuff just off-hand when I went on a Myst lore dive because I was curious about a few things (and because I didn't hear the opening cutscene super-good the first time... I had my audio way down, in my defense), because some of this game's puzzles are infamous. But I avoided looking up full solutions unless I was ABSOLUTELY SURE that I was stumped. Other than the fire marble grid. That I was concerned about in advance especially having heard tales of the original.
Then it turns out that I would still probably have been a little confused anyway because I didn't hash out what the deal was with D'ni numbers above 10 (apparently there's some sort of rotation and overlay thing that happens with them, from what I read? I forgot already. Whatever it was, I didn't pick up on it in game). So that ended up coming down to a small amount of trial-and-error anyway.
Still, what a great game, and one that really challenges you to pay attention to everything. You can get by with MOST of the information, but you want that most to be as close to all as possible at all times.
Also holy crap Gehn is such a piece of sh*t. I thought his grandsons were bad!...
