Part 11: King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match
Here's the deal. I own King of Fighters XI on PS2 but I don't have a PlayStation 2. I don't have King of FIghters XII for PS3. If I did, I'd cover it. So to make up for the fact that I am unable to cover KOF 11 and 12, I will be doing these two different updated Dream Match games. Let's get started with The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match.
KOF '98 Ultimate Match is an updated version of the original KOF '98. It's a non-canon game to let you know but it does have addicting gameplay. In addition to having all the characters from the original, this version gives you access to additional characters such as Eiji Kisaragi, Kasumi Todoh and the mid boss and final bosses. Oh and depending on how well you play, you can face off against Omega Rugal, Goenitz or even Orochi. You can tell depending on who you fight before that. In this case, it's the New Faces Team going full Orochi. How fitting.

As for the KOF XI story, let me summarize.
After KOF 2003, the group Those from the Past, having succeeded in their plan to break the seal now proceed with the next phase: to gather enough energy for Orochi. The only way to do that is of course, King of Fighters. As for the Sacred Treasures team, with Chizuru unable to help, she brings in Shingo Yabuki hoping to help. Kyo and Iori finally decide to work together but we know how long that'll last. As for Ash, he's teaming up with Shen Woo along with a retired assassin named Oswald. Duo Lon meanwhile teams up with a woman named Elizabeth Blancthorne. Elizabeth is an old friend of Ash and after noticing what he's doing decides to stop him. She teams up also with Benimaru as well, forming the Hero team.
Eventually Kyo's team made it to the finals and faces off against Shiki. Yes, that's a man. Despite Shiki's efforts, they defeat him. Unfortunately it means that Shiki gets pulled into another dimension and the three encounter Magaki. Unlike Mukai, who respects the potential of humans, Magaki despises them. Yes, Magaki is scum. Not much to say on that but it's not a pretty thing. They defeat Magaki and as he's about to escape, Shion's spear flies through the portal killing him. Unfortunately the presence of Orochi causes things to go from bad to worse. Why? Because Iori goes full Riot of the Blood and nearly kills Kyo and Shingo. Just as he's ready to finish it, Ash comes out of nowhere and steals his sacred treasure, the Magatama. With two treasures in hand, Ash is then confronted by Elizabeth. He shows off his new powers but not before warning Kyo that he's next. This sets up for King of Fighters XIII.
