RoboCop 2 (Arcade) - No Death Clear
1,003Data East made a couple of really good RoboCop arcade games to go along with the films back in the day. RoboCop 2 in particular is a hybrid between a shooter and a beat em' up, which to this day, still makes it pretty unique. And it's a really good game, too! I don't really have anything to complain about with this game, pretty much everything about it is really well done. It's pretty easy for an arcade game too, so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any fan of the series. I think anyone can pick it up and enjoy it. Unfortunately it's probably stuck in licensing hell forever, so just play it on MAME.
FYI: I'm playing the Japanese version of the game, but I edited the video to include the story scenes from the English version instead. There are actually a few noteworthy differences between the Japanese and western versions as well. For starters, the entire prologue with RoboCop going up the elevator and fighting ED-209 doesn't exist in the western versions. You just start right in sector 1. The Japanese version is also a little bit harder. In the western versions, you get a full health refill in stage 4, right before you fight the hopping mech boss. That can actually be really helpful if you screwed up the previous section and took a bunch of damage from the robots and midboss. The car pushing sequence in sector 1 was also shortened a little in the Japanese release. But other than that, I didn't notice anything else from what little I played. Ultimately the Japanese version seemed like the complete one, so that's just what I stuck with.
