RoboCop first appeared in 1987 as the protagonist of the American science fiction film of the same name. The role was played by actor Peter Weller (Bukaroo Banzai). RoboCop's real name is Alex Murphy, and before he became RoboCop, he was a police officer in a future and dystopian version of Detroit. This future Detroit was overwhelmed with crime and short on resources so it granted the mega corporation Omni Consumer Products (OCP) control of the city's police department. One day while serving in the Metro West precinct Murphy is captured and brutally tortured and killed by a notorious street gang and their leader. OCP converted Murphy's corpse into RoboCop, a heavily armored cyborg with no memory of his former life. RoboCop was programmed with three prime directives: serve the public trust,
protect the innocent, and uphold the law. OCP also secretly programmed a fourth prime directive that was classified...
