Watching the Xbox + Bethesda Developer Showcase, a quirky game called Hi-Fi Rush by Tango Gameworks was announced. Also announced was that it was available to play immediately on Xbox Game Pass! I used to LOVE old Harmonix rhythm games like Amplitude and Frequency back on the PlayStation 2. Not to mention PaRappa The Rapper and Um Jammer Lammy.

Hi-Fi Rush is all of those games taken to a completely new level. THIS is as close to playing an interactive cartoon / anime as I have ever experienced.

It takes me back to the early 1990s when I would be begging my stepfather for quarters for Dragon Age. It felt SO COOL controlling the cartoon. The reality was, that game was trash FMV gimmickry. These are 3D, cell shaded polygonal models that legitimately look hand drawn.

Yes, some of the cutscenes appear to be prerendered. Other parts, as far as I can tell, are real-time and PHENOMENAL!

I still can't believe this is from the developers of Ghostwire: Tokyo and The Evil Within!!! Talk about a 180!

If you have Game Pass, download this game NOW. It's a lot of fun, and unlike Forspoken, the edginess actually FITS this game.
