Kintobor was once a brilliant scientist and inventor, but he was corrupted by his own power and became the evil Dr. Robotnik. This backstory was explored in the Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM TV show, which aired in the 1990s, and in the Archie Sonic the Hedgehog comics, which ran from 1993 to 2017.
