Rock Band 2 Deluxe - Through the Fire and Flames (Expert Guitar Autoplay) (April Fools 2024)
...Hey, I never said I was the one playing. π
This song needs no introduction if you're into plastic guitar games, but for the one person watching this who isn't: "Through the Fire and Flames" appears as the final song you play in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, during the ending credits with No Fail enabled. And considering how crazy, CRAZY hard it is, you'll definitely need it in order to last more than five seconds. The Expert chart throws everything and the kitchen sink at you: tons of crazy fast strumming and HOPO patterns that are all over the place, all over the course of a lengthy 7 minutes. It definitely makes for an incredibly epic finale after defeating Lou the Devil. Getting an Expert FC on any of the four official charts (GH3, Smash Hits, RB3, and RB4) is easily one of the biggest achievements in rhythm games. Especially since the Smash Hits and Rock Band charts have some jank to them because of some annoying quirks with the engines (Smash Hits' slider notes that are possible to hit out of order because of overlapping hitboxes, and Rock Band 3's dynamic timing window that shrinks as more notes are thrown at you at once).
Lawton's only experience with plastic guitar games outside of LEGO Rock Band DS (which he only picked up because it doesn't require extra accessories, and it has a Super Easy difficulty) is the arcade version of Guitar Hero III. Like me, his first crack at it ended with him failing out on Easy because he didn't know how the guitar controller worked; unlike me, he hasn't touched one since. The idea of a complete novice like him shredding along to one of the biggest beasts in the Guitar Hero/Rock Band series on Expert was too good to pass up.
Don't expect me to actually play this, BTW: even on Hard, I'm having a difficult time keeping up. π
