Awesome game for the Sega Genesis from Konami in 1993. You assume the role of Sparkster the opossum as he fights the Devotindos Empire and the treacherous Axel Gear, a rocket knight who has betrayed the kingdom and now fights for Devotindos. Konami really was one of the kings of the 8 and 16-bit eras. Rocket Knight Adventures has some of the best graphics and sound on the Genesis, and the gameplay is great.

The rocket pack is the main gimmick, used by holding down the attack button. Sparkster will fly off in whatever direction you are holding. While necessary to get through some area, the rocket pack can also be used to attack. Sparkster moves quickly, so much so that he feels just a little loose. It feels a bit awkward making precise movements as a result, but it isn't impossible by any means.

Oh yeah, this isn't an easy game either. There are four difficulties determining starting lives, continues, and number of hits: Children, Easy, Normal, Hard. "Children" cuts the ending short. "Easy" is the default setting, and it is not a picnic. "Normal" ups the ante, while "Hard" gives you virtually no chance: you will die in one hit, and there are no continues.
