Rolling Line Ep. 9 (Pt. 1) - Meanwhile, In The Mountains
For this episode, I decided to have a look on a layout called Mountain Lake Town. This was made by Bubbles, and you can find it on Steam Workshop.
Basically what I did was swap out the default locomotives for some custom liveries. This included my KiwiRail DSG 3155, Frieda and Yong Bao reskins, as well as the Alaska Railroad v2 reskin by DeathRowTull and the New York Central DX by João Marcos. At the time of uploading, Frieda has not yet been uploaded to Steam Workshop, but Yong Bao and DSG 3155 have been uploaded.
After setting up the two trains, steam-hauled passenger and diesel-hauled freight, I took Frieda and Yong Bao for a run around the layout. Unfortunately the recent Halloween update included a Halloween-themed sky that you only get when you're in first-person view. I think there's a way to change this, but I can't figure it out.
Frieda and Yong Bao are two of at least twelve International Engines that featured in the Thomas & Friends film 'The Great Race'. Sadly the International Engines were some of the most under-utilised characters in Thomas history. Barely any of them spoke, and the ones that did only had one or two lines. The only one of these engines that had more than three lines was Ashima, a Nilgiri Mountain Railway X class locomotive from India. Frieda comes from Germany, and she is based on the Deutsche Bahn BR10 class 4-6-2, while Yong Bao comes from China, and he's based on the China Railways RM class 4-6-2.
