The Corris Railway is currently a narrow-gauge heritage line in Wales. The line first opened in 1859, and originally ran from Derwenlas, north to Corris and onwards to Aberllefenni. Branches served the slate quarries at Corris Uchaf, Aberllefenni, the isolated quarries around Ratgoed and quarries along the length of the Dulas Valley.

The railway first opened with horses as the motive power. These were replaced by steam locomotives in 1879. The original Corris Railway was closed in 1948, with the two surviving locomotives being preserved on the Talyllyn Railway. After the line's closure, a preservation society was formed in 1966, initially opening a museum at Corris. After several years of hard work, the short section from Corris and Maespoeth was re-opened to passengers in 2002. A brand-new steam locomotive - based on (what is now) Talyllyn Railway's No. 4 (one of the former Corris engines) - was completed in 2005, and still operates today.

The Train Simulator version of the Corris Railway was made by Skyhook Games, and is available on Steam. You get the Corris to Maespoeth section, plus the proposed southbound extension to Tan-y-Coed. Essentially, this route is set in the future.

This is one of the shortest routes in Train Simulator, running for just two miles from Tan-Y-Coed to Corris. The line is uphill all the way, getting as steep as 1 in 35 at one point.

Picking up from where we left off in Part 1. I have now switched from Simplex diesel No. 5 to steam locomotive No. 7 (the new-build from 2005). From here we move out of the shed at Maespoeth, couple to the coaches, then make a short trip up to Corris and back.
