If you're in the mood for some cutesy platform fun, Rolo to the Rescue is a good choice. Poor Rolo is on the run from the local circus and the clutches of the dastardly ring master; can you save Rolo and all his animal buddies?

The objective is pretty simple: travel to each of the game's levels and liberate Rolo's incarcerated animal friends from their cages. Each animal friend has a special ability which can help Rolo reach locations or access objects he alone cannot. It's a cool feature which doesn't really get used to its fullest extent, but still pretty neat concept.

If, by the time you reach the game's end, there are any animals you haven't rescued, you'll get the bad ending (included at the end of the video). To guarantee you'll get the ending both you and Rolo deserve, you'll need to hunt high and low through each of the levels, look for secret areas and items hidden off the beaten track. You'll need to keep an eye out for jigsaw pieces, which fill parts of the over-world map, unlocking new levels to explore. Also, be careful when encountering the space rocket stage - going to the moon locks out many of the previous levels, so make sure you've completed everything else before blasting off.

There aren't many longplays of Rolo to the Rescue on YouTube, and the couple that do exist tend to rush through the levels, rather than exploring and uncovering the secrets and hidden bonus items. That's something I tried to address in my recording of the game, looking in all the nooks and crannies for bonus items and extra lives; some stuff I didn't figure out, but I think I found most things!

Would I recommend this game? If you can put up with the controls and Rolo's tendency to slide off the end of platforms, this is actually a really cool game from the studio behind James Pond!
