Where I think Rot really shines, is if you couple it with the Spice Forge skill. If you set the first effect to Rot, it will autocast before every fight, meaning that as the fight start all the enemies will have weakened torsos.

Couple it with high agility, the meditation skil and the meat grinder or red virtue, it means you will be able to deal multiple high damage attacks on the weakened torso of your enemies, allowing you to take out a lot of the tougher enemies in the game in just one turn.
