“Med-Zone 63-Pharmacy” read a sign outside a sealed transparent door. Lexy saw smatterings of old and caked rust clinging to the inside. “Query: Blood?” she asked. On the inside were leftover skeletons of different sizes from small and childlike to larger than 4 meters. Most were shaped like humans. “It’s difficult to see through all this rust. Should it not have decayed by now?” She glanced around her, noticing the sterile environment. Everything was still sleek and shiny outside the pharmacy area. “Perhaps the area inside has antibacterial that halted decay. How very charming.” Lexy pretended to crack her knuckles, which yielded no sound, then she got to work on the door panel. “I am unburdened with technical knowledge to hack a sealed door, but I’m still an android. First let’s see what language you were programmed in.”
While tapping into a console command screen, the panel turned red with unfriendly letters reading “Tampering with security device is prohibited. Please await detainment.”
“Oops.”
She jumped in surprise. On either side of her the hallway walls slid open revealing two short security drones with tentacle grippers whipping on their sides. The tendrils quickly whipped out at Lexy, forcing her to bend in an odd angle to get out of their way. Were she human, this would have been too quick to react to, but she and the drones were working on the same level of processing. She lept a few meters back and unrolled her whip. “Let’s see. How about…” She lashed at one of the drones hoping to cut off some of their own lashes, but the two tangled together. “Oh, those are steel, too. Noted.”
Lexy expertly twisted the whip and pulled it free, getting in a counter swing which cut open the side of one drone and exposed some of its inner workings. The other, however, reached out and tangled around her leg at the same time. “If I can turn the lash as so…” Lexy twirled her wrist which wrapped her whip around all tendrils on the offending drone’s side. “...I can…” She shifted momentum of the heavy whip toward the ceiling which, tugging on the drone, ripped the tendrils and much of its circuitry out of its shell and scattered it into the air. “Simple.”
The remaining drone took Lexy’s celebration as an opportunity to rush in and grapple both legs together. The surprise and the momentum of her whip, caused her grip to loosen and its handle popped out of her hand. She instinctively punched the top of the drone, caving in the shell and leaving her fist inside. “Either You both were very flimsy or I’m just incredible.” Her hand pulled out the brain-box of the drone, threading its tendrils inside of its shell. Its insides out, the drone ceased moving, allowing Lexy to untangle her feet.
