Lexy tilted her head in curiosity. “These do not look like a futuristic space station. I should know. I’ve lived my entire life on one.”
“They are not.” Said the Captain. “There was not a time when I was human, but were I to guess, I would say these are dreams of humans.”
“Query: What are they meant to be?”
“Security Camera Inputs.”
“Query: WHAT?!”
The power flickered in the room Lexy was in. All monitors blinked off and on again before returning to normal.
The Captain’s voice spoke “We are nearing the end of power reserves. It will be approximately 8 cycles before I can gather enough power to speak with you again, so I must summarize. I’m sorry, we are out of time.”
“It’s fine.” Lexy replied. “Be efficient.”
“Your location is in Deep Space Station Opulence in the Expanse of the Odin Galaxy. It has been 120 thousand cycles since all monitors of the station have been damaged. I am isolated in the main core of the settlement. Assume station is derelict. After so long, it would be a miracle if any humans survived. Do not harm them if you find them. In 8 cycles I will reboot systems which will take roughly 1.5 cycles to become conscious again. Your mission is to discover the the nature of the incident and possibly secure a method to counter it and make the Opulence inhabitable again. You are Model Lexy Mk1 and made of Black Iron, but you are not impenetrable. The previous 1,976 models have failed. Please be the outlyer. Swear you will complete this mission.” Lexy laughed. “Strange. Androids do not lau-” then the Captain cut out and the room went dark. A dim flashing red remained blinking in at the upper corner of the exit.
“I swear on my iron. I will succeed, creator.” whispered Lexy. “And have some fun doing so.”
