RPCS3 - Improved Performance in RDR, GoW 3, MGS4, Skate 2-3 and more!
5,518Back at the end of December, kd-11 rewrote RPCS3's ZCULL implementation to improve scheduling efficiency. This resulted in a large performance uplift across many titles, especially in scenes with heavy culling. kd-11 also added a new setting to the advanced settings tab "Relaxed ZCULL Sync" which changes the way zculling works. This didn't quite turn out as expected, and most games run better with it off, however there are some exceptions.
For instance, Red Dead Redemption and WipEout performs slightly better with it enabled and Metal Gear Solid 4 performs a lot better with it enabled. But either way, even with this setting disabled you will benefit from kd-11's ZCULL Rewrite.
Aside from WipEout, Red Dead Redemption and Metal Gear Solid 4 using the new Relaxed ZCULL Sync setting, all other games were recorded with the same settings before and after the changes.
WipEout is also playable now thanks to these performance improvements and some stability improvements by Eladash. But you will need to use some specific settings. Create a custom configuration for WipEout by right-clicking the game in your game-list and clicking configure.
