
RPCS3 - Improvements in The Last of Us, R&C: A Crack in Time & Resistance 3 by kd-11
During July, kd-11 improved performance and stability in both Resistance 3 and Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time when using the Vulkan renderer. This was done by improving RPCS3's zcull synchronization.
And ever since, he has been hard at work looking into issues with The Last of Us, while work has not yet been completed, here we showcase the first half of his planned efforts. Improving framebuffer memory synchronization by implementing the Read Depth & Color Buffer options. This improved visuals considerably, and also bumped performance by a small amount. Currently the visual improvements are limited to Vulkan but that will change.
For the second half of kd-11's upcoming work, next on the list is rewriting blit engine behaviour when doing DMA transfers which should improve performance in many titles, including The Last of Us.
