Hello! We have arrived at episode 4. For this week's episode we're discussing map transfers! Something that is oft over looked at a simple mechanic and rarely given the consideration on how many different ways it can be used.
We'll be creating some traditional map transfers, a modern take on 2D Zelda's map transfers, and a map transfer method to help you reduce the number of maps in your game. There will also be discussions about story/writing, graphic art, and mapping in this video.
Next week, in episode 5, we will be looking at how you can implement an enemies-on-map system for your game to get rid of random encounters. This will also include setting up a small, branching cutscene based on the outcome of a boss battle.
