RPG Maker MV - TIPS: Portrait Wizard! How to use software to load pics in own game!
Hello folks, this video will present the overall process of creating a Portrait for a character. If you want to see what to view and where to do it, read below for a minor breakdown of the ideas I'd discuss on! (instead of watching whole video).
Like, this time from own mind, I go through the process of creating a female student for the Chapter I am working on in my game! Portrait Wizard is a software I found and bought on Steam, for the 20 bucks it is! It's quite comprehensive, allowing someone to create:
- portraits for own characters that can afterwards be modified. (always saved as 830-957 resolution!)
- portraits done are royalty-free ^^
THINGS TO NOTE (lengthy vid ^^ so I will note here the main things I spoke about if you really don't have time to watch the video, or don't want to XD which I can understand):
- around minute 35:15 I speak a bit about adding some backgrounds from outside the software's library and the small, tricky aspect this can cause (sometimes not saving your pic as a usable .bmp file; it can be done however if you load the .ini file and save it again, with that .ini name included. This time it'll work, with your file's name being something like: filename.ini.bmp
- this software saves files only as .bmp, which RPG Maker MV doesn't like, requesting .png instead. So I used Clip Studio to save the files as .png Discussed around minute 43:00.
- in order to save a file with same name, just type the same name in the bar and it'll be replaced without a problem.
- saving a pic saves the file as a .bmp and .ini file, the second one holding all the Variable values you chose for each parameter (like color, height, etc.). It is the .ini which you actually open in the software :)
- starting from minute 50:00 I present the adding of the files in RPG Maker MV (so basically watch this if you interested in this part only). If you do this thing as well, that of adding portraits from this software in RPG Maker MV do keep in mind the percentages I chose for the image size and location, as well as Center instead of the weird Center-Left. Portrait Wizard saves all pictures as 830-957 resolution so they will be same size. Therefore, if you want them to have the same size as well when showing them ingame, you'll need to figure out what parameter values serve you, then all pics will be used the same. My values apply for full-screen pic size.
