Game #9 is Ys: The Vanished Omens on Sega Master System, an Action RPG.
The combat in this game is a little strange; you don't press a button to swing a sword like most ARPGs, you just walk into an enemy to damage them (or get damaged yourself).
After viewing a video online about this boss fight (for a newer version of the game), I noticed the hero switching over to the silver sword/armor, and it dawned on me that the game had been dropping hints about the boss being afraid of the silver items (he's been stealing all the silver in the town). After equipping my silver gear the fight was a joke!
