5What is this?
This is a creative worldbuilding project I’m undertaking in which I create the fictional micronation of Makyr. It will take form in both Arma and Cities: Skylines.
Makyr in a Nutshell
Makyr is a small archipelago nation to the Northwest of Sumatra, Indonesia. Speaking primarily English and the native language of Golvai, Makyr is a melting pot of European and local peoples—The native Golva people, English, Dutch, Spanish, and a variety of immigrants both from within the region and around the world. The country is a liberal democracy with a strong welfare state, and is a federal union between the mostly European northern islands and the mostly Golva southern island. Western-aligned but not part of any large formal alliance, Makyr is under pressure from many of its neighbors—its strategic location near the Malacca strait has brought it into the sights of China, as well as an unpredictable Indonesia and an increasingly authoritarian India.
What will you actually do?
So far, I have a mostly-complete Arma 3 mod for the Makyr’s military. I have a larger collaborative project in mind. It works like this:
1. Create a map of the region (98% complete)
2. Import the map into Cities Skylines. I’ll then run Cities: Skylines streams where I build out the nation island-by-island. During these streams, I’ll be running some very light roleplaying with the audience in which they can take the role of various stakeholders—businesses, resident communities, etc. to do a light simulation of the political experiences and enhance the realism of the resulting cities.
3. When Arma 4 releases, I want to use the finished CS maps to create an Arma map. This is a huge undertaking—possibly beyond my ability. But hey, you miss all the shots you don’t take.
4. Create a new and improved Makyr faction for Arma 4.
How can I participate?
Several ways! The simplest is to just watch the streams, give feedback, do a little bit of the roleplay. I’m also taking suggestions for things like vehicle liveries, names of major businesses and other political forces, and I would be thrilled if anyone wanted to submit custom assets for Cities: Skylines!

Conclusion
This is a very experimental project. This is more interactive than projects I’ve done before, and I don’t think anybody’s gone through a Cities: Skylines to Arma development pipeline before. This’ll probably experience a number of hiccups, and who knows if I’ll reach the end goal, but hopefully it’ll be fun for everyone involved!
