R.U.S.E. is an upcoming 2009 Real-time Strategy video game developed by Eugen Systems and published by Ubisoft. It is scheduled to be released in 2009 for Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It's a strategy game involving the players to use decoys to trick their enemies into traps.

It seems that with every other announcement of an upcoming game, the developer or publisher doing the said announcing is hell bent on trying to convince the gaming public that their (sometimes questionable) unique point of difference is everything weve been looking for and more. So when R.U.S.E. rolls around and at a glance it can be seen that its an RTS title and a World War II game, the first impression is that it hardly screams originality.

The one of a kind points of difference come into play when you look a little closer at the game. First up, it features a Supreme Commander-like zoom function that allows you to zoom right in, or out to a level that lets you see a whole lot more of the battlefield. Unlike Supreme Commander however, zooming out wont flatten the terrain and units into 2D markers. Zooming out completely will give you a tabletop view, complete with 1940s machinery buzzing away in the background, while the playable area is still rendered in glorious 3D. This particular feature emphasises one of the other points of difference of strategic, board game-like planning during RTS battles.

There isnt a fog of war per se, as youll be able to see where your enemies are across an expansive map, you just wont be able to tell what type of units they are or how much of their force is in a particular area unless you have troops within line of sight. The main feature, which plays into the title, is the ability to use certain cards to fool your opponent into thinking you are somewhere that youre not, or hide your troops from enemy view. All in all it sounds like an interesting RTS hybrid, albeit set in a familiar era, and you can check out a whole lot more information here at Rock, Paper, Shotgun. R.U.S.E. is being developed by Eugen Systems and published by Ubisoft and is due for release in 2010 on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
